Choose a folding rower by stored shape and setup space
We research products from makers' specs and health sources; we do not run hands-on tests. Links to Amazon may earn us a commission at no cost to you. How this works.
- KINGSMITH WR20 / RMWR20F. Best for: A low tri folded shape instead of a tall stored rail. See options on Amazon
- Echelon Row-s ECH-ROWs. Best for: An upright folding rail with a connected screen. See options on Amazon
A folded rail and a tri fold make different shapes
This guide addresses the storage shape you will live with between sessions. It uses different picks from our general rower guide and our manual magnetic comparison. A standing rower is not necessarily one with a folding joint.
The WR20 manual identifies model RMWR20F and gives a tri folded size of 28.93 by 18.89 by 22.83 inches. Echelon’s current Row-s maker page lists its upright folded shape as 48 by 24 by 69 inches. Its text repeats the length label on the final dimension, so confirm the orientation and supplied revision with Echelon.
Think of the actual storage location: a low open floor space and a taller corner are different requirements. Do not choose by an advertised percentage of space saved. Ask whether the complete stored machine fits without blocking a door, exit or route through the room.
| Model | Folded shape | Check |
|---|---|---|
| WR20 | Low tri fold | RMWR20F manual |
| Row-s | Upright rail | Supplied revision |
Check the documents before making a close fit decision
The US WR20 page’s main description names WR20, but its lower technical table names WR1 and prints different dimensions. We rejected that table. The opened WR20 manual from the maker’s UK manual library identifies the WR20 and RMWR20F and provides the model specific dimensions used here.
That manual lists an unfolded size of 81.50 by 18.90 by 22.83 inches and a maximum user weight of 331 pounds. This is a region labeled document, so confirm that the supplied US unit is RMWR20F and that its current instructions agree. We do not transfer its electrical accessories or warranty to a US purchase.
Echelon’s current maker page lists an 85 by 24 by 45 inch machine and 350 pound limit. The selected listing instead gives 81 by 24 by 48 inches and 300 pounds. The UPC matches the maker variant, but that does not resolve a hardware revision conflict. If a close dimension or the higher limit determines suitability, pause the purchase until Echelon confirms the delivered version.
Plan enough room to unfold and to row
For WR20, the manual requires at least 1.5 metres behind the machine and 600 millimetres on the other sides. Use the complete clearance diagram. The folded box is not the operating space, and the length of the rail alone cannot establish the room you need.
Choose a storage position from which you can move and unfold the equipment without colliding with furniture. Check the floor surface and the route into position. If moving it requires help, arrange that help before treating folding as a daily convenience.
The WR20 manual calls for a solid level surface and cautions against thick carpet or mats that reduce stability. A generic equipment mat is therefore not an automatic addition. Use only a surface arrangement the exact maker instructions permit.
Read the locking and moving instructions
Echelon’s Row-s manual describes locking the raised rail and securing the machine before use. It also directs the user to put the adapter away before moving it. Read the complete sequence rather than inferring the locking method from a product photograph.
The WR20 manual shows a different folding mechanism, fixed knobs and grip positions. It warns to inspect for damage, keep children and pets away and stop using damaged equipment until the problem is resolved. Do not borrow Echelon’s locking sequence for a tri folded wooden frame.
Folding is a mechanical task with moving parts. Check the instructions for where to hold the equipment, how to control the seat and how to secure it in storage. No zero tipping risk or effortless lifting claim is established by this comparison.
Water care and connected screens are different commitments
WR20 uses water resistance and has a battery display. Its manual specifies water care and a maximum fill line; obtain and follow that exact routine. This guide does not reproduce filling or maintenance procedures and does not transfer WR1 instructions onto WR20.
Row-s is a magnetic connected rower with handlebar resistance controls and a 22 inch touchscreen. Consider whether you want a screen, app services and a power connection before making it the storage winner. Confirm which current functions remain available without a paid membership; a promotional included period does not make all future services free.
We did not measure resistance, sound, energy estimates or training outcomes. A water tank does not prove a more natural stroke, and a large screen does not prove you will use the machine more. Choose those ownership features only when they match the sessions you actually intend to do.
Match the listing and keep the remaining uncertainties visible
The selected KINGSMITH listing names Water Rower WR20 and is sold by KINGSMITH WALKINGPAD. Its current maker variant is in the WR20 product family, while the exact manual adds the RMWR20F identifier. Confirm that identifier on the delivered unit before applying the manual.
The Echelon maker variant prints UPC 813061025840, matching the selected Amazon item. Its New offer was sold by Echelon Fitness Marketplace on October 17, 2026. That exact UPC match is useful identity evidence, but it does not erase the dimension and capacity disagreement described above.
Our preference is WR20 for the low tri folded shape when the supplied model is confirmed, and Row-s for an upright folding rail plus connected display when its current dimensions and service terms suit the buyer. Skip either if a remaining documentation issue controls your decision. Neither is a promise of convenient storage in every home.
What to look for when you buy
KINGSMITH WR20 / RMWR20F
Best for: A low tri folded shape instead of a tall stored rail
The WR20 manual lists its folded dimensions and separate operating clearances.
Watch out: The US page includes a WR1 table. Confirm the supplied RMWR20F manual; region specific accessories and warranty are not assumed.

Best for: An upright folding rail with a connected screen
The maker documents the rail fold, handlebar controls and a touchscreen; the UPC matches the listing.
Watch out: Maker and listing dimensions and user limits differ. Confirm the revision before a tight fit or limit dependent purchase, plus membership terms.

- Is upright storage the same as folding?
- No. Some rowers stand as a complete frame, while others fold a rail or several frame sections. Check the actual mechanism rather than a general space saving label.
- Which is lower when stored?
- The WR20 manual lists a 22.83 inch folded height. Echelon lists a much taller upright folded shape, with an ambiguous repeated dimension label that should be confirmed.
- Why not use the WR20 website’s lower specification table?
- It identifies WR1 and gives different figures. This guide uses the separately opened WR20 manual and asks buyers to confirm their supplied model and region.
- Can I rely on the Row-s maker weight limit?
- Its current page says 350 pounds while the selected listing says 300. This comparison does not resolve that conflict. Obtain written current model confirmation if the limit affects your choice.
- Does a folding rower need less space while exercising?
- Folding changes the stored shape. You still need the operating footprint and all clearances the exact manual requires.
