Choose an athletic compression shirt by fit and construction
We research products from makers' specs and health sources; we do not run hands-on tests. Links to Amazon may earn us a commission at no cost to you. How this works.
- Under Armour HeatGear 1361524. Best for: Long sleeve athletic coverage with a clearly listed care routine. See options on Amazon
- 2XU Core MA6398a Black/Silver. Best for: A nylon blend long sleeve with raglan sleeves and flat seams. See options on Amazon
Two long sleeve athletic shirts
We compared opened maker pages and exact model listings. Both selected products are athletic compression tops, so the comparison starts with how they are cut, which fabric panels they use and what the care label requires. A familiar size letter does not establish that two different brands fit the same way.
Under Armour calls its selected fit ultra tight and lists regular and tall lengths on the maker page. The checked black Amazon offer is the regular men’s Large version, not a promise that every length and size is available. The selected 2XU offer is also a men’s Large in Black/Silver, identified by model MA6398a.

Use the chart for the exact shirt
Measure using the instructions on the chart attached to the exact product rather than assuming your ordinary T shirt size transfers unchanged. Read the chart heading and the garment category as well as the size letter. Men’s, women’s and youth charts describe different products, even when the marketing name is similar.
The 2XU page’s men’s compression top chart puts Large at a chest measurement of 103 to 107 centimeters, also printed as 40.5 to 42 inches. This is a body measurement range in its chart, not a relaxed shirt width or a universal Large size. Use the maker’s own listed units instead of converting from another brand.
Do not deliberately choose a smaller size solely to increase tightness. Compare the chart, the intended fit and the product’s instructions. If a size or length cannot be resolved from the available information, ask the maker before ordering. This guide does not prescribe a compression pressure or select clothing for a medical purpose.
Compare construction rather than benefit slogans
Under Armour’s exact page specifies a body fabric of 84 percent polyester and 16 percent elastane, with mesh at 92 percent polyester and 8 percent elastane. The separate panel composition is useful when checking the material label. It does not tell you how this particular shirt will feel on your skin.
2XU’s product details list 72 percent recycled nylon and 28 percent Lycra, raglan sleeves and flatlock seams. Its feature text also identifies mesh panels at the center back and underarms. This is a different fiber composition from the Under Armour body fabric; it is not proof that either feels better to you. Use the exact current maker description to compare the design, and confirm the delivered composition label if fiber content is a deciding requirement.
No fabric feel, skin contact, stretch recovery, sweat handling or durability comparison was performed. Maker benefit language is not repeated here as an established result. If you have a particular material requirement, resolve it from the current label and maker before buying rather than from the term compression.
Check coverage and the layers you plan to wear
Both picks here are long sleeve tops. Decide whether that coverage is wanted before comparing colors or logos. Under Armour separately sells short sleeve HeatGear models, and the same brand name on a search result does not make them the selected 1361524. Read the style number before adding an item to the cart.
Consider the neckline, sleeve length and torso coverage with the clothing or uniform you actually plan to wear. A shirt shown on a model is an example of styling, not a fitting result for you. If the product page offers multiple lengths, confirm which length is selected on Amazon rather than assuming the maker page’s entire range is offered there.
The relevant comparison is whether the intended close fit is the style you want. If you prefer a looser top, look for the maker’s own regular or relaxed clothing category instead of treating an athletic compression model as an ordinary T shirt. Our compression shorts guide covers a separate clothing choice. Match that garment to its own chart as well.
Read care restrictions before buying
Under Armour lists a cold machine wash with like colors, non chlorine bleach only when needed, and low tumble drying. It says not to iron, dry clean or use fabric softeners. Check whether that care routine fits how you wash your training clothes, rather than assuming every synthetic shirt has the same label.
For 2XU, read the care instructions on the actual garment and exact product page before washing. This comparison does not transfer Under Armour’s drying instructions to another brand. If a care method is important to you, confirm it before removing packaging or labels that may be relevant to a return.
Keep return conditions separate from the maker’s general support policy. A manufacturer page’s retail return offer does not automatically apply to a purchase from a third party marketplace seller. Check the selected Amazon offer for its own condition, seller and return notice when deciding whether an uncertain size is an acceptable purchase.
Keep the model and color code visible
The checked Under Armour listing B0874W4WQ9 prints model 1361524 and Black/White, Large. Its maker page identifies style 1361524 and the black color code 001. The checked New offer was sold by Amazon on October 17, 2026. The model number matters more than the general phrase HeatGear compression shirt.
2XU’s maker page identifies Black/Silver as MA6398a-BLK/SIL, and the Amazon model field for B08RXWLZL2 is MA6398a. The checked New Large offer was sold by 2XU USA. Confirm the same size, color and model when using the search link, since neighboring sizes and colors may have different offers.
The pages and listings were checked for clothing identity and current New offers. They do not establish a measured pressure level, a medical indication or a result from wearing the shirts. Pick by the actual clothing requirements and leave claims about health, injury or performance out of the purchase rationale.

- Should I use my ordinary T shirt size?
- Start with the exact product chart and its body measurement instructions. A size letter from a different shirt or brand does not establish the same fit.
- Does tight fit establish a pressure rating?
- No pressure specification is established in this comparison. These are athletic clothing picks, and the guide does not select a shirt for a medical purpose.
- Are the selected Under Armour and 2XU shirts short sleeve?
- No. Both selected models are long sleeve. Similar search results include other sleeve lengths, so check the full model and selected variant.
- Can I wash both shirts the same way?
- Follow each garment’s own label. Under Armour lists cold washing and low tumble drying with restrictions including no fabric softener. This guide does not apply that method to 2XU.
- Do regular and tall mean the same shirt length?
- They are separate length choices on Under Armour’s page. The selected Amazon offer here is regular Large. Verify the actual chosen length rather than assuming all maker variants are available.
