Court net, portable net or rebounder

Tennis nets do three different jobs. A court net hangs on permanent posts and replaces a worn or torn net. A portable net stands on its own frame so you can play in a driveway, a gym or the street. A rebound net sends the ball back to you so you can practice without a partner.

Pick the job first. A court net needs posts. Tourna says its 10 foot net sets up in a driveway or street, and its rebounder suits driveways or garages.

Replacing a court net: 3.0mm or 3.5mm

Tourna lists its TN-S as a 3.0mm single net made for extreme climates, with hand tied knots, four rows of stitching on the headband, bottom and side tape, a vinyl covered 6mm steel cable, 1/2 inch fiberglass side sticks and a tapered cut that drags less on the ground. It comes with a Tourna net strap.

Tourna lists its TND-S Deluxe with the same 6mm cable and 1/2 inch side sticks, a 2.5 inch UV treated vinyl headband, 500 denier yarn with 145 KGF breaking strength, a deluxe center strap and all ties, and a 1 year warranty. Tourna's page title calls it 3.5mm while its description says 3.0mm, so check the listing and box for the gauge.

Check the length and fittings of your current net against the listing before ordering.

Portable nets for driveways and kids

Wilson's EZ Tennis Net is 18 feet long, sets up and comes down without tools, and packs into a carrying case. Wilson says it suits beginners and can help experienced players practice depth drills.

Tourna's 10 foot net is for 10 and Under tennis and play in the driveway or street. Tourna lists a black steel frame that collapses into a carrying case with a strap, with velcro straps that hold the net tight.

Practicing alone with a rebound net

Tourna's Rally Pro rebound net gives a 7 foot high by 7 foot wide hitting surface for tennis and pickleball. Tourna says you can lay the screen back for a soft, high rebound or tilt it forward for a faster bounce, and that it suits driveways or garages. Assembly is required.

A rebounder is good for repeating one stroke many times. Pair it with a ball hopper so you spend less time picking up balls.

Set up safely

Clear loose balls from the area before you play. If a ball hits someone in the eye, MedlinePlus says not to press or rub the eye, to apply a clean cool compress, and to seek medical help right away for any change in vision, a painful red eye or bleeding that will not stop.
