Pickleball nets: regulation size and how to choose one

Quick answerA regulation pickleball net sits 36 inches high at the sidelines and 34 inches at the center, with posts 22 feet apart, under USA Pickleball rules. For a net you set up and take down, JOOLA's Elemental packs into a carrying bag. For a club or backyard court, JOOLA's Pro (S) is a semi-permanent steel net, and the Pro (C) adds six caster wheels so it can roll between courts.

What the rules say about the net

The 2026 USA Pickleball Official Rulebook sets the net standard:

For a home court, plan for the 22 foot spacing between posts plus the space the net's legs or base take up, and measure your area before you order.

Portable or semi-permanent

Pick the net by how often it moves. JOOLA says the Elemental sets up and breaks down in minutes and carries in a reinforced bag, and pitches it for making a court wherever you go.

The Pro (S) is meant to stay put. JOOLA describes it as a semi-permanent, heavy-duty net for racket clubs and backyard courts that plays similar to an in-ground net. The Pro (C) uses the same tensioning design on a thick steel frame with six caster wheels, so a rec center can roll it from an indoor gym to outdoor courts or convert tennis courts to pickleball.

Getting the height right

Both Pro nets use a hand crank on a steel cable to bring the sides to 36 inches, and a center strap to set the 34 inch middle. Measure both after setup; the rulebook says the center measurement includes the strap. JOOLA lists the Elemental at the regulation 36 inch height and the USA Pickleball recommended 22 foot length, which it says gives about 12 extra inches on each side of the court.

Delivery, returns and warranty

JOOLA's warranty page covers defects in materials and workmanship for the original purchaser in the United States and Canada, with the period varying by product. It excludes improper use, negligence, abuse, transport damage and accidents, and it does not cover items bought from unauthorized sellers such as auction sites.

JOOLA ships the Pro nets by freight. Its warranty page asks you to refuse delivery of a pickleball net that looks damaged, because returns may not be accepted once you sign for it. Contact the original seller within 30 days for a return or exchange before filing a warranty claim.

Stay safe on court

If a ball or paddle hits you in the eye, MedlinePlus advises prompt medical help and warns not to press or rub the injured eye.
