How the four bags score
Our spec score uses five checks from the makers’ own pages, weighted the same for every bag. Ringside leads because it does well on all five. The method is at the bottom of the page.
Life in Good Form spec score out of 10, from each maker’s page and Amazon listing text, read Oct 22, 2026. It is not a customer rating or a hitting test.
You can already keep the bag going and want a fast latex bag in a size that suits you.
Skip it if
You’ve never hit a speed bag. Its biggest size is 7×11 in; the TITLE Super comes in 10×12.
Ringside’s Boxing Speed Bag scored 8.4, the top score here. It’s the only pick that does well on every check: four sizes on Amazon, published seams and loop, and a replacement bladder sold under its own part number. All four sizes were sold by Amazon.com when we checked.
The sizes run XS 5×8, S 6×9, M 7×10 and L 7×11 inches. On Title’s size chart, the XS is an advanced bag and the other three are intermediate sizes. There’s no big beginner bag in the line, so if you’ve never hit one, read our size picker first.
Its bladder is latex. Ringside says latex far outperforms other bladders, and that butyl rubber bladders are heavy and slow. The cost is care. Latex is porous, so air escapes with each use, and Ringside says the bag may need light inflation every couple of days.
The shell is leather with reinforced, triple-stitched seams, and Ringside says the attachment loop is reinforced for long wear. The loop is the part that hangs on the swivel, so it’s worth seeing a maker describe it. Ringside doesn’t say which leather, which is why it scores 6 out of 10 on shell material.
When the bladder wears out, Ringside sells a replacement under SKU LSBB. Its own product page lists the bag as SKU RPSB and not discontinued. The Amazon listing’s sizes and features match Ringside’s page, down to the note about topping up the latex.
We link the medium 7×10 first. It sits at the top of Title’s intermediate range, 6×9 to 7×10, so it’s one of the larger, slower bags you’d still call an intermediate size. The 7×11 large is a touch taller again. The small and extra small are for faster hands.

You want the seams and loop described. Ringside and TITLE publish both.
Meister’s SpeedKills bag scored 8.0. It’s the only pick whose maker names the leather: genuine full-grain cowhide. Meister MMA sells it on Amazon in three sizes, and its own store sells the same bag with a matching replacement bladder.
Meister lists height first: Small 7.5×5, Medium 9.5×6 and Large 10.5×7 inches. Turned around to the way Title and Ringside write sizes, that’s 5×7.5, 6×9.5 and 7×10.5. The small is an advanced size on Title’s chart. The medium and large are intermediate sizes.
Inside is a lightweight latex bladder, which Meister says gives faster performance. Meister sells replacements in small, medium and large, each matched to a bag height of 7.5, 9.5 or 10.5 inches. The valve stem can be cut to any length, and the instructions come with it.
Meister says its valve design locks in air, and that the bladder takes the shape of your bag once inflated.
Meister says the bag is balanced and centered for predictable, consistent rebounds. What it doesn’t publish is anything about the seams or the hanging loop. That’s the check it scores lowest on, 4 out of 10, and the reason it sits below Ringside.
Meister’s own store backs its gear with a 100% guarantee. If a product lets you down, Meister asks you to contact it and, where possible, return the item in new, resellable condition. Amazon orders follow Amazon’s return terms.
Pick the medium if you’re in Title’s intermediate range, or the small once you hit fast and steady. The large is the slowest of the three, but at 7×10.5 it’s still an intermediate size, not a beginner bag. All three sizes come in black only.
The Amazon listing gives the sizes in centimeters as well: 19×12.7, 24×15.2 and 26.7×17.8 cm, height first. Those match Meister’s inch figures, so the listing and the maker agree.
TITLE Gyro Balanced: a small, fast bag
Best for a small, fast bag
TITLE Gyro Balanced Speed Bag
Product photo: Amazon
TITLE Gyro Balanced Leather Speed Bag, small (5×8 in)
You already hit at a steady pace and want a smaller, quicker bag from a brand that publishes its size chart.
Skip it if
You’d rather have a latex bladder. Ringside and Meister both use one.
TITLE’s Gyro Balanced Leather Speed Bag scored 7.8. Title Boxing sells it on Amazon itself, in a small 5×8 and a large 7×10, and there’s a 2.0 version in medium. Title says its Gyro Balanced manufacturing gives true rebounds and rapid recoil.
The full line runs XXS 4×7, S 5×8, M 6×9 and L 7×10. Title’s chart puts the XXS and S in its advanced group and the M and L in intermediate. The small is the size to get for a quick, tight rhythm, so it’s the one we link first.
Unlike Ringside and Meister, Title uses a butyl rubber pro bladder with internal balancing. Ringside calls butyl heavy and slow, and Title calls its own butyl bladder a pro bladder. Ringside’s note about topping up every couple of days is about latex, and Title’s page says nothing similar for this bag.
The shell is top grade leather, with triple reinforced leather seams and lacing. Title doesn’t describe the loop on this bag, which costs it points on construction. Its Super Speed Bags, by contrast, list quad-wrapped loops.
One instruction is specific to Title. You must moisten the needle before it goes into the bladder, and Title says petroleum jelly is best. That helps prevent small tears in the valve that let the bag go flat. Title sells a replacement bladder and suggests keeping a spare.
Bought from Title, its gear is covered by a 60-day satisfaction guarantee for new, resaleable items. The 2.0 version lists the same S, M and L sizes, premium leather with triple-reinforced seams, and a butyl bladder.
On Amazon, Title Boxing sells the original in black, and the listing gives the same four sizes as Title’s own page, from XXS 4×7 to L 7×10. Only the small and large showed up new from Title when we checked.
TITLE’s Super Speed Bag scored 7.5. It’s here for one reason: the 10×12 is the only beginner-size bag we found sold new on Amazon by its maker. On Title’s chart, 8×11 to 10×12 is the beginner range. Cleto Reyes says the same of its own bags: the largest is slower, for beginners.
Title makes the Super in six sizes, from 4×7 up to 10×12, but only the blue 10×12 was on Amazon from Title Boxing when we checked. That’s why it scores low on sizes, with one skill range out of three. The smaller ones are in Title’s own store.
It has the most fully described build of our picks. Title lists all leather welted seams, reinforced handles and triple stitching, plus loops that are quad wrapped for long life on the swivel. The Amazon listing says the same: leather cover, welted seams, reinforced loop.
Inside is a long-life inner bladder, and the replacement Title sells for it is butyl rubber. As with the Gyro, Title says to moisten the needle before you inflate it. It suggests keeping a spare bladder for emergencies.
Colors vary by size, Title says, which is why this 10×12 is blue. Title calls the shell lightweight leather and doesn’t name the hide, so it scores 6 on shell material, the same as the Gyro and Ringside.
Think about how long you’ll stay a beginner. ExpertBoxing’s guide to hitting a speed bag recommends a smaller bag even when you start, since you’re likely to outgrow a big one quickly. If that sounds like you, start on an intermediate size instead.
At 10 inches wide and 12 tall, it’s 2 inches taller than Title’s own 7×10 and Ringside’s medium. Title calls the Super its toughest, super-fast lightweight leather construction, and the bigger size is what Title and Cleto Reyes tie to a slower bag.
Side-by-side

Not a pick
Title’s page says leather; the Amazon listing says synthetic leather
Welted seams, reinforced loop
Cleto Reyes came closest. Its platform bag is cowhide with a tough lining, handmade in Mexico, and the brand sells latex replacement bladders for it. But it names its sizes Mini, Chica, Mediana and Grande without publishing their dimensions, so you can’t place them on a size chart. It scored 6.4.
The TITLE Classic is a well-known bag, but its Amazon listing calls the shell synthetic leather while Title’s own page says leather. We don’t link a listing that doesn’t match the maker.

Each brand uses its own size names. A Ringside medium is a full inch taller than a TITLE medium, so order by inches, not by letter.

Meister writes its sizes height first (Medium 9.5×6 in), and Title and Ringside write width first (6×9 in). We turned Meister’s around so every size on this page reads width by height.
The gap matters most if you switch brands. A Ringside small is the same size as a TITLE medium, 6×9 in. If you liked a bag at your gym, ask what size in inches it was, then match the inches.

ExpertBoxing guide
A smaller size even for beginners, since you’ll outgrow a big one
Start on an intermediate bag and learn its pace
The makers agree with each other: a bigger bag moves slower, which gives you more time between hits. That’s why Title’s chart starts beginners at 8×11 in or larger.
ExpertBoxing takes the other side. Its guide recommends a smaller Title bag even for beginners, because you’re likely to outgrow a big one quickly. It also says that hitting with open hands at first slows the pace, which is its fix for a fast bag.
If you’ll train on it often, an intermediate bag such as the Ringside 7×10 in is the size you’re least likely to replace soon. If you’re unsure you’ll stick with it, the TITLE Super 10×12 in is the easier start.
Latex or butyl bladder?
The bladder is the inflated ball inside the leather. Two of our picks use latex and two use butyl rubber.

Ringside makes the case for latex plainly. It says latex bladders far outperform other options, that butyl rubber bladders are heavy and slow, and that plastic bladders are oblong and don’t give a consistent rebound.
It’s just as plain about the catch. Latex is porous, so air escapes with each use, and you may need to add a little air every couple of days. Keep a small ball pump with your gloves if you buy a latex bag.
Title uses butyl in both its bags and calls them long-life and pro bladders. Every maker here sells a spare, and Title suggests keeping one for emergencies.

“Leather” on its own doesn’t say which hide or grade. Full-grain is the outer layer of the hide, kept whole, and it’s the most specific claim a maker can make. Only Meister and Cleto Reyes name the hide as cowhide.
Synthetic and PVC bags aren’t useless. Everlast pitches its PVC Elite at beginners to intermediates, and Ringside calls the Apex’s synthetic shell easy to clean. They score lower here because the shell is the part you hit thousands of times.
What else you need to hang one
A speed bag doesn’t work on its own. It hangs from a swivel under a rebound board, and none of our picks includes either.

TITLE: wall braces that adjust 21 in; stands that carry a platform

TITLE recommends wraps and well-padded gloves every time
Title’s adjustable platform has a 2 inch thick, 23.5 inch wide wood board and a screw-type swivel with nearly 12 inches of adjustment. It ships with wall hardware for wood stud and masonry walls. Meister’s M2 uses a 24 inch, 2 inch thick hardwood drum, adjusts up to 14 inches, and includes a stainless steel swivel.
If you’re buying the Meister bag, the Meister M2 platform on Amazon comes from the same maker and includes the swivel. It isn’t scored here, since it’s a different kind of product.
No wall to drill? Some free-standing heavy bag stands carry a speed bag platform too. Our heavy bag stand guide compares them, including one with a platform that adjusts from 67 to 79 inches.
How high to hang a speed bag
These steps follow Title’s setup guide for its adjustable pro platform. The heights apply to any wall platform.
1
Start at 72 in
Title’s average platform height for adults.
2
Fit brace boards
On wood studs, fix two boards across them first.
3
Level the rails
Use a level so both wall braces sit even.
4
Use two people
Title says two adults hang and adjust it.
5
Set your height
The platform adjusts 21 in on Title’s rails.
6
Check the bolts
Before every use, since hitting loosens them.
Title says a 6 foot (72 inch) platform puts the bag at the right height for an average adult, and its rails let you move it up or down by 21 inches for other users. ExpertBoxing’s guide adds a quick check: your eyes should be level with the bottom of the bag, a little higher or lower is fine.
For masonry walls, Title includes plastic expanding anchors. On a wood stud wall, it says to attach two horizontal brace boards into the studs first, then mount the platform to those. Title also warns that the vibration from workouts can loosen the four bolts, so check them each session.
How to hit a speed bag
This is the method from ExpertBoxing’s guide to hitting a speed bag, a step-by-step way in for beginners.
1
Learn the rhythm
The bag rebounds 3 times for every hit.
2
Open your hands
Hit with your fingers first, not your knuckles.
3
Stay close
Keep the waiting hand right under the bag.
4
Make small circles
Your hands circle; they don’t swing back and forth.
5
Right, right, left, left
Two hits with each hand, then switch.
6
Stand square
Feet level, a little closer than arm’s length.
The rhythm is the key part. ExpertBoxing says the bag goes forward, back, forward after each hit, then comes back to be hit again. So it’s hit, three bounces, hit, for a whole round.
Once that feels easy, close your hands. ExpertBoxing uses the front of your fist on the first hit and the bottom of your fist on the second, so the pattern becomes right-forward, right-down, left-forward, left-down. It says most people can learn the basics in 10 minutes or less.

What speed bag training is for
These are the makers’ and ExpertBoxing’s own claims. We don’t test training results ourselves.
Timing and rhythm
Ringside lists strength, speed, timing and endurance.
Hand-eye coordination
Title and Ringside both name it for their bags.
Punch endurance
ExpertBoxing names punch endurance, timing, speed and accuracy.
Quick reflexes
Title says its Gyro bag helps develop fast reflexes.
Ringside calls the speed bag a timeless training tool, and its Amazon listings point it at warmups, conditioning circuits and technique practice, with shoulder stamina as part of the work. Keep your hands up while you hit, the way you would in a round.
A speed bag doesn’t replace a heavy bag for power work. For that, see a punching bag and a heavy bag stand. For footwork and conditioning between rounds, a jump rope is the usual partner.
How to inflate and look after it
Most speed bag problems are air problems. These tips come from Title’s and Ringside’s product pages.

TITLE setup guide
Title explains why the needle matters: a dry needle can make small tears in the inflation valve, and the bag then slowly goes flat. A drop of petroleum jelly on the needle avoids that.
When a bladder does fail, you don’t need a new bag. Ringside, Meister and Title all sell replacements, and Meister’s come sized to 7.5, 9.5 or 10.5 inch bags.
Title’s size chart puts beginners on 8×11 to 10×12 in bags, and Cleto Reyes also says its largest bag is slower and meant for beginners. ExpertBoxing disagrees and suggests a smaller bag, since you’ll likely outgrow a big one. The TITLE Super 10×12 is our beginner pick.
What is the best speed bag?
For most people who can keep a rhythm, the Ringside Boxing Speed Bag in medium (7×10 in). It has a light latex bladder, triple-stitched seams, a reinforced loop and a replacement bladder sold by Ringside. It scored 8.4 on our spec score.
How do you hit a speed bag?
ExpertBoxing’s method: the bag rebounds 3 times per hit, so hit, wait three bounces, hit. Start with open hands, keep both hands close to the bag, move them in small circles and go right, right, left, left. Stand square, a little closer than arm’s length.
How high should a speed bag be?
Title says the average platform height is 6 ft (72 in), which puts the bag at the right height for an average adult. ExpertBoxing says your eyes should be about level with the bottom of the bag.
Do you need a platform for a speed bag?
Yes. A speed bag hangs from a swivel under a rebound board. None of our four picks includes a platform or swivel, so you’ll need a wall platform or a stand that carries one.
Is a latex or butyl speed bag bladder better?
Ringside says latex far outperforms other bladders and calls butyl heavy and slow. Latex is porous, though, and Ringside says it may need light inflation every couple of days. Title uses butyl in its Gyro and Super bags.
How do you inflate a speed bag?
Title says you must moisten the needle before inserting it into the bladder, with petroleum jelly working best. That helps prevent small tears in the valve that let the bag go flat.
Is a leather speed bag better than synthetic?
On our score, leather beats synthetic and PVC, and named cowhide scores highest. All four picks are leather. Meister is the only pick that names full-grain cowhide. Ringside’s Apex and Everlast’s Elite use synthetic leather and PVC.
Are speed bag sizes the same across brands?
No. A Ringside medium is 7×10 in, a TITLE Gyro medium is 6×9 in and a Meister medium is 6×9.5 in. Order by inches rather than by the size name.
What does speed bag training do?
Ringside says it builds strength, speed, timing and endurance. Title names reflexes, quickness and hand-eye coordination. ExpertBoxing names punch endurance, timing, speed and accuracy.
