What Ring 5 changes
Oura says Ring 5 is fully titanium inside and out, with a super hard PVD coating on every finish for scratch resistance and a non-allergenic, BPA-free titanium inner shell. It comes in six finishes: Black, Silver, Stealth, Brushed Silver, Gold and Deep Rose.
The sensors are two triple LEDs and two photodetectors, a digital temperature sensor that tracks average body temperature changes, and an accelerometer for movement. Oura lists battery life of typically 6 to 9 days, depending on ring size, settings and use, and about 80 minutes to charge.
When Ring 4 still makes sense
Ring 4 is the one to look at if you need a size Ring 5 does not come in: Oura lists Ring 4 in sizes 4 to 15, against 6 to 13 for Ring 5. Ring 4 also stores up to seven days of data on the ring, which helps if you sync your phone only now and then, while Ring 5 holds up to three days.
The software is the same. Oura says Ring 5 with an active membership includes the same features as Ring 4.
Size it before you buy
Oura says Ring 5 sizing is slightly different from Ring 4 and tells buyers to use the right sizing kit for the most accurate fit. The Ring 5 Amazon listing repeats this: Ring 5 uses sizing different from standard jewelry rings and other Oura generations.
- Order the sizing kit that matches the ring generation you plan to buy.
- Wear the sample on the finger you plan to use for a full day, through sleep and a workout.
- Then order the ring in that exact size.
What the membership adds
Detailed app insights use a paid recurring membership. New members get one included month starting when the ring pairs with the app. The chosen monthly or annual plan then renews and bills automatically unless canceled; buying the ring does not include ongoing full access. Membership adds sleep analysis, heart-rate trends and other detailed features.
Without it, you see Readiness, Activity and Sleep scores, battery, basic profile, settings and Explore. Data can still be downloaded through Membership Hub.
To cancel, open the app menu, Settings, Account, Manage membership, then Membership Hub’s cancellation option. Cancel before the included month ends to avoid a charge. A canceled paid plan remains active through its billing period. Oura Membership (support.ouraring.com).
Water, heat and everyday wear
Oura rates Ring 5 water resistant to 100 m (328 ft) and says it is suitable for sauna and water sports but not diving. It lists an operating range of 14 to 129°F and recommends charging at room temperature. Oura also says the ring works over Bluetooth 5.0 and allows Airplane Mode.
