Choose between Bondi running and work shoe designs

Bondi 9 and SR solve different buying questions
Our general running shoes guide explains the broader category. This page compares the actual Bondi model choices, so a buyer looking for the numbered road shoe does not accidentally order the work version.
HOKA classifies Bondi 9 for everyday running and walking, and Bondi SR for professional use. The specifications below use HOKA’s Australian and New Zealand pages for the same model codes. Confirm the US package and seller terms; regional direct store delivery, returns and warranty terms are not applied to marketplace orders.
The shortlist uses men’s Bondi 9 black, 1162011-BBLC, and men’s Bondi SR white, 1110520-WWH. Check the exact color and size you want. These sample offers establish model identity; they do not establish that a single size or width suits everyone.

Bondi 9 is the mesh road shoe
The maker’s Bondi 9 page describes engineered mesh, a molded collar, super critically foamed EVA and a Durabrasion rubber outsole. It lists Smooth MetaRocker and a rearfoot focused Active Foot Frame. Those are construction descriptions, not measurements of your comfort or running performance.
For the men’s model, the opened page lists a 5.00 mm heel to toe drop. Use that as a model specification rather than treating every Bondi generation as identical. If you already own an older Bondi, compare the actual new shoe instead of assuming its upper and internal shape reproduce the old pair.
Choose to try this model when you are shopping for the numbered Bondi road shoe and want to assess its mesh upper and rocker. Skip it if the actual toe space, heel grip or upper pressure is wrong. A thick midsole cannot compensate for a pair that does not fit.
Bondi SR is the leather work design
The opened SR page describes water resistant leather, an EVA midsole, an early stage MetaRocker and a slip resistant rubber outsole and tread. Its men’s model page lists a 6.00 mm drop. This is a distinct product specification from Bondi 9.
Water resistant wording does not mean a waterproof shoe for every exposure. Likewise, the maker’s slip resistant description is not a guarantee on every floor or permission to ignore an employer’s footwear requirements. Confirm the required standard with your workplace and compare it with the exact supplied documentation.
Try SR when its leather upper and work shoe design match the use you are shopping for. Skip it if you specifically want the mesh numbered road model. Do not order a white SR expecting only a color change from a white Bondi 9.
A longer shoe and a wider shoe are different choices
AAOS recommends trying both athletic shoes in the intended socks, with room for the toes and a firm heel grip. Compare length and width separately. A size number from another brand or an older generation cannot establish fit in the current pair.
Bring any prescribed orthotics to the fitting and follow your clinician’s advice about their use. Check the complete setup rather than assuming there is room because a shoe looks tall from outside. Upper volume and the thickness of an insert are separate from the outsole’s outside width.
Write down what is wrong with your existing pair: toe pressure, pressure over the instep, heel movement or insufficient length. Use those observations to compare sizes and widths. If adding length creates a loose heel without resolving the side pressure, consider another width or model rather than automatically going longer again.
Use exact style codes when comparing offers
The checked Bondi 9 listing identifies 1162011-BBLC, matching the opened black men’s maker page. The SR listing identifies 1110520-WWH, matching the maker’s white men’s SR page. A listing that says only HOKA or Bondi leaves too much unconfirmed.
Read the gender range, US size, width, condition and color selection together. Marketplace pages may show several variants under one family, and the selected image can be easier to notice than the actual width field. Confirm the final variant details before making the order.
For a different family, compare Brooks Ghost models. The Ghost and Bondi guides address their own model lines; they do not claim the same size, foam feel or rocker geometry across brands. Try the actual candidates if you are deciding between them.
HOKA documents women’s Bondi 9 black and white separately as 1162012-BWHT. Use its own size and width selection; no automatic size conversion from the men’s 1162011 example is established here. The links below are the two men’s models, rather than an offer for this women’s version.
Check returns and expectations before wearing outside
Both selected examples had New, in stock Amazon offers when checked on October 17, 2026. The sellers were third parties. We do not claim that those sellers are HOKA authorized retailers, and the maker’s own direct store policies are not treated as marketplace guarantees.
Check the specific seller’s fitting and return policy before choosing a size, especially if you are comparing widths. Verify what happens if the delivered shoe differs from the ordered style. Keep the box and confirm the model label before taking the pair into the intended outdoor or work setting.
This comparison is based on opened maker descriptions and model identity checks. We have not measured traction, wear, water resistance or comfort. Choose the design and fit that match your actual use, with separate confirmation of any workplace requirement or individual medical advice.

- Is Bondi SR the same as Bondi 9?
- No. SR has its own model code, leather upper and work shoe description. Bondi 9 is the mesh road shoe in this comparison.
- What drop do the opened men’s pages list?
- The Bondi 9 page lists 5.00 mm and SR lists 6.00 mm. These are the named men’s models, not universal figures for every Bondi generation.
- Should I buy a longer size if the toes feel squeezed?
- Compare width and shape as well as length. A larger size number does not by itself resolve the cause of pressure or establish a secure heel.
- Does SR guarantee grip at work?
- No guarantee for every surface is established. Check the employer’s requirements and exact shoe documentation rather than relying on a short product label.
- Do the Australian return terms apply on Amazon US?
- This guide does not apply those regional direct store policies to US marketplace orders. Confirm the actual seller’s return and warranty terms.
